Uterine Fibroids are common benign tumors that affect women. Nearly 200,000 hysterectomies are performed each year because of uterine fibroids. Uterine Fibroids can be debilitating to some and hardly noticeable to others.

QUICK FACTS:

Uterine fibroids (leiomyomata, singular leiomyoma) are the most common neoplasm in females, and may affect about 25 % of white and 50% of black women during the reproductive years.
Fibroids can grow as a single or cluster.
Uterine Fibroids are benign tumors made up of muscle cells and other tissue.
Symptoms: painful heavy periods, frequent urination, pelvic pressure/pain.
Estimated that 77% of women in the US have fibroids.
